Rude Rum are the rock-groove rebels emerging from the streets of Brisbane's Fortitude Valley music scene.
Captured in their freshly released debut EP 'Taste Test', their energy-laced music is designed to incite a party with its addictive attitude and just a hint of mischief... the perfect cocktail for a good time.
To celebrate the release of the 'Taste Test' EP, we caught up with the power-trio for a Top 5. And what better topic than their favourite drinks on a night out. But make sure you drink responsibly.
1: Cuba Libre
The go-to party drink, hahahaha, like every time. It's just rum, cola and lime. It's refreshing, zesty, delicious and affordable (which makes it taste even better, hahaha). It's basically a party in a cup.
2: Sazerac
Old-school New Orleans anyone? Think of it like a martini, but with rye and absinthe. If you're a whiskey lover it's great, especially if you prefer a neat spirit or an 'old fashioned' drink. But if you prefer your Fruit Tingles, it's definitely not a good idea, hahahaha!
3: A Lemmy
A Jack and Coke, or a 'Lemmy' for Motörhead fans, haha. It's a classic. Jack Daniels. Coke. Done. Simple as that. We've seen it with lime here and there. But honestly, it's good as it is. So no fruit for us.
4: Absinthe and lemonade
So order this in the middle of your night out to keep thangs goin'. It has to be decent absinthe, so nothing under 60 per cent alcohol, and it must go cloudy. Warms up the chest and lights up your night.
5: G&T with orange
A great Sunday sesh sip. The bar in the Valley served this special once. It was Four Pillars gin with tonic and an orange wheel. A really refreshing take on a G&T that didn't get boring at all.
Rude Rum's debut EP 'Taste Test' is available now. The band play Greaser Bar 27 June and Empire Hotel (Brisbane) 28 June.
