Red Bull Music have launched their studio rap series ‘64 Bars’ in Australia; the first episode features independent, Brisbane-based hip hop artist Jesswar.
First founded at Red Bull Studios Auckland, the ’64 Bars’ project showcases handpicked MCs who hit the booth and lay down 64 bars.
With Jesswar’s lyrical prowess and depth heard in a raw, unedited studio environment in the debut episode, upcoming features include Western Sydney rap hero B Wise as well as Baker Boy mentor, Dallas Woods.
Here, Jesswar lets her taste buds do the talking with her favourite places in Brisbane to eat-out.
1: District 1 - Fortitude Valley
Best Vietnamese in Brissie. Located in the Valley, it's best for pre-night feeds. BYO too. My favourite on the menu is the lemongrass beef salad as well as pork belly bahn mi.
2: Smug Fig - Woolloongabba
It's attached to a plant nursery and has tropical vibes as soon as you walk through the door. Breakfast is the best here. My fave is poached eggs, avo on sour dough. Hella cheap too, plus amazing coffee.
3: La Quinta - Balmoral
The best Mexican in Brissie. Delicious, slow-cooked meats and corn tortillas. Very cheap and mind-blowing wings. Definitely get the blue cheese sauce with the wings. My favourite is slow-cooked brisket tacos with avo and salsa, and the lamb goes hard too.
4: Punjabi Palace - South Brisbane
Amazing Indian. My personal fave is lamb korma and cheese and garlic naan. If you’re around South Bank definitely swing by.
5: Ben’s Burgers - Fortitude Valley
Delicious bacon and egg burger for $8; add an iced long black and it can cure any hangover.
