After buying his first guitar only three years ago (and teaching himself to play), Melbourne country singer-songwriter Philipe Schizas released his first single 'Me N My Guitar' in 2019.
He quickly followed that up in February this year with his second single 'Redneck Dream', a song inspired by a 'rootsy country girl' following Schizas' recent travels through the south of the USA, and co-written with Australia-based Corey Jay.
Now a regular traveller between Nashville and Melbourne, Philipe has been working on a number of other songs to put together on his debut EP that he plans to release later in 2020.
His music, which unashamedly tells stories of simple pleasures and lessons learned the hard way, has been influenced by the likes of Jason Aldean, Chris Stapleton and Jon Pardi.
Here, Philipe shares his love for the USA with his favourite places he has visited.
1: Nashville
For obvious reasons and my love for country music, even though I look like someone in the latest Drake film clip. I love Nashville because the vibe and opportunity is like no other place in the world.
2: Vegas
So I went to Vegas for the first time four years ago before my first CMA Fest and since, then it's been a must-go every year. I'd love to tell you why, but as they say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
3: North Carolina
Best dry-rub wings in the world! If you are ever there you MUST try 66 Pizzeria Bar & Grill.
4: New York
Nothing beats Christmas in New York; just wow! While chewing on the best sub you can find, you really start to believe there MUST be a god and this is the preview to heaven. Lol!
5: Memphis
Like everyone, I somewhat liked Elvis. But it wasn't until I went to Graceland that I truly realised how much of a legend he was. The bars where pretty cool too.
