5 Favourite Perth Cycle Paths According To FRAN

West Australian electro-pop producer FRAN recently released her newest single 'Mind', a track that is for fans of Lastlings, Golden Features and Tourist.

Melodic house melded to tech-bass textures and heavily processed vocals, 'Mind' could easily soundtrack a journey through an empty, futuristic city.

Intent to move forward producing open-heartedly, FRAN's electro-pop connects listeners through the accessibility of pop structures.



Seems FRAN also enjoys the freedom of regular bike rides. "Over a year ago I got my electric bicycle. I ride it everywhere!" beams FRAN.

"The weather is perfect for cycling in Perth and there are so many paths. Here are my five favourites – don't forget your water bottle."

1. The Lakes

My favourites are Lake Monger and Herdsman Lake. They are pretty much next to each other, so if you are feeling energetic you can do both. Neither are really coffee shop-nearby options, but no better place than to pack a picnic and enjoy.

2. The Swan River

There are cycle paths all around it. You can even follow the river south and travel as far as Mandurah on a path. That is a very long journey!

If you attempt that I would recommend you go to Cicerellos for dinner because it will take that long. Also, pack a box of muesli bars because you will use a lot of energy on the way.

3. The Coast

Travel north and end up at the Wild Fig Cafe in Scarborough for a post cycle snack.

4. Swan View Tunnel and Falls

I saw an Instagram post of Nic Naitanui doing this one. I have only walked the tunnel, but hey if it's good enough for Nic, right?

5. Rottnest Island

Currently used for quarantine but if that ever ends. . . a beautiful cycle around the whole island with no cars on the island and the occasional quokka to make it interesting and dugite (snake) to give the journey that roller-coaster feel. End at the tavern.
