Born in 2012 with a shared vision to bring people together through the power of music and parties, a decade later A Love Supreme are still going strong with two major events to celebrate.
Whether a carpark block party or a sophisticated club night, the aim has also being the same with A Love Supreme – 'to push quality and enjoyment to those who will accept it'."As we rotate our tenth lap around the sun, A Love Supreme wants to celebrate with two events close to our hearts in a multitude of ways.
"Week one, two acts we never thought we'd have the chance to see in this city, Azymuth and Marcos Valle sharing the stage together supported by some favourites from the River City: Middle Name Dance Band, The Jazz House and DJ Paprika.
"Week two is a full family affair featuring some of the favourites we've hosted over the years.
"Headlined by the one and only Floating Points and joined by Ruby Savage, DJ JNETT, Mike Who, Sophie McAlister, Lori and Respect Guy.
"There is nothing we would like more than to share these two special nights with you to celebrate ten incredible years promoting music in our beloved Boomtown."
One of the co-creators of A Love Supreme, we asked Benny Chiu to walk down nostalgia lane sharing his five favourite memories of previous A Love Supreme parties.
"So damn, it's been a whole decade since the first block party thrown in the carpark at the back of the shop.
"An idea to bring likeminded people together, to build a community through the love of music and a way to bring new ears to the underground and under heard in Boomtown.
"It was super hard to pick five favourite moments as there have been far too many special memories for us in our ten-year history. We've managed to give you five moments here in no particular order."
Block Party
Block Party was probably the biggest singular event encompassing what A Love Supreme represents musically. Joining the dots between soul, jazz and the like with more club-orientated sounds. So as a whole, it really meant something to us.The live and DJ elements really worked symbiotically across different stages and somehow with the two of us bumping our heads together, we managed to pull it off. It's hard to describe the feeling exactly, but it was particularly nice. Something like 'nah, I can't explain it'.

Gilles Peterson
I mean, Gilles. . . He is an icon, the originator of joining the dots. After spending so long listening and appreciating what he has built it was a trip to host him in our city. Our guy Alex Intas even made it back to town and joined us putting it all together, just like old times. Lots of feelings for this one.
We were also lucky enough to showcase a bunch of local acts in front of Gilles and anyone that was there for those performances would feel the same love as we did for the amazing talent coming out of our city.

Winn Lane Invisible City and Theo Parrish Parties
Now, we held a few parties in Winn Lane but we couldn't choose just one. So I guess we'll cheat a little here and give you two that for different reasons really stuck with us.Firstly, the launch party for our little record store in the lane (RIP) featuring Invisible City, Tako and Jimi Dawg. It seemed like a big moment for us as we had taken a new step and just seemed like a particularly notable experience. It just had the feeling that something special was happening.

The other was hosting Theo Parrish and Nick The Record. It was remarkably intimate for a booking of this stature. Stuffed like sardines into the laneway listening to Theo tear the system to pieces while people danced on anything and everything. Big-time energy!

Better Days
This was our first party post the first wave of the pandemic here in Boomtown. We had a homegrown line up consisting of all Meanjin DJs in an open-air space and for a moment it felt that things were going to be just fine. After not being able to congregate for so long it was a beautiful reminder of connection through music and dance. A huge amount of positive energy and gratitude, no big international headliners, it was a very warm (and festive) moment.

A great few days spending time with beautiful people. Basically, we got to welcome one by one this crew into town with some of them connecting for the first time (IRL).We spent almost a week with this crew going from airport pickups (oh so many airport trips), rehearsal studios, radio spots, record stores, Lone Pine Sanctuary and everything in between in the lead up to their first show in their Aus tour.

Felt like a big family by the time the event had finished. They even dubbed it the 'Special Moments' tour themselves by the end of their time in Aus.
These kind, beautiful souls really made it one to remember. Is that corny? Yer, probably, but hey, we are called A Love Supreme after all.
A Love Supreme present Azymuth & Marcos Valle at The Princess Theatre (Brisbane) 20 March followed by Floating Points and Ruby Savage at The Tivoli (Brisbane) 25 March.
