The first Scottish band to achieve a UK #1 album for 14 years is no doubt an impressive feat; four-piece indie rockers The Snuts did it with their debut album 'W.L.' when it was released in April.
The record encapsulates the band's journey from four working class kids growing up with a dream in Whitburn, West Lothian, to becoming one of the UK's most exciting bands of the new decade.'W.L.' has entranced critics all over, and seen the band be declared as 'Kings of Scotland' by the Daily Record.
Now The Snuts are bringing their uninhibited and sweat-drenched live show to a screen near you when they play Splendour XR, the extended reality edition of Splendour In The Grass.
We had drummer Jordan Mackay complete a listicle of his favourite drum fills and grooves to celebrate the occasion. "I could not say these are the best drum grooves or fills of all time, but they're certainly favourites of mine."
Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight
No one listens to this song without playing air drums.
Toto - Rosanna
Everyone has a different name for the shuffle played in this song, but can all agree no matter what it is called it is amazing!
Justin Timberlake - Like I Love You
I don't know who the studio drummer that performed on this track is, but the drums always stood out to me and sound amazing and I love hip hop beats.
Loyle Carner - You Don't Know
Again, I love big hip hop beats and this one hits big from start to finish with the trombones and drums really complementing each other.
Lionel Richie - Easy
I'm a drummer who would say very complex drums don't please me more than when a nice, simple groove sits in a song just perfect, with simple breaks and fills; and that's what the drums in this song are to me. There is definitely inspiration from this song in our debut record 'W.L.'.The Snuts play Splendour XR, which takes place virtually 24-25 July.
