5 Favourite Conspiracy Theories Shared By BLUSSH

Brisbane grunge punks, BLUSSH's new EP is titled 'Glamour'.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

A Brisbane band brought together by a shared love of '90s punk-grunge (think Hole, L7, The Distillers and Babes In Toyland), last week BLUSSH released their second EP, 'Glamour'.

The follow-up to 2019's 'Shut Up Becky!', 'Glamour' features five tracks exploring subjects like deceit, spite, reprise, obsession, desperation, ruthless times, period bleeds and drunken fast nights.

"Omg it's out; we are sooooo excited to finally release our second EP, 'Glamour'. These songs were written during the 2020 lockdown, and it feels so good to finally get them off our chest!"

A band who have shared stages with the likes of Jebediah, Violent Soho, Amyl & The Sniffers, DZ Deathrays, The Chats, Press Club, The Meanies and many more, BLUSSH will headline shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Here, they share five of their favourite conspiracy theories.

1: Brittany Murphy - The Strange Circumstances Surrounding Her Death

The conspiracies around Brittany Murphy just get juicier over time. Was she poisoned? Was there toxic mould in the house? Was she offed by government officials because she knew too much?

The HBO documentary 'What Happened, Brittany Murphy' sheds light on husband Simon Monjack and mother Sharon Murphy – it'll make your head spin. What's most bizarre is Simon died six months after her with the same symptoms as Brittany?!?!

The LA County coroner stated the primary cause of Murphy's death was pneumonia, with secondary factors of iron-deficiency anemia and multiple drug intoxication. We miss ya Brittany!

2: John Titor - The Time Travelling Soldier

A man named John Titor appeared on online forums in the early 2000s claiming to be an American military time traveller from the year 2036. He posted that he was sent on a military mission to travel back in time to 1975 to obtain a piece of IBM computer technology that supposedly contained a secret function that was now needed to help save the future world that he lived in.

It was confirmed by IBM years after Titor's original post that the secret computer function he referenced did in fact exist the whole time!

3: Isdal Woman - The Mysterious Death Of A Mysterious Woman

A Nordic woman's mystery death that led to a trail of coded messages, disguises, and fake identities burnt to ashes – this one is rogue with conspiratorial tea. It's so good, we wrote a song about it!

4: Boxboy - The Unknown Death Of The Boy In The Box

Boy In The Box is a haunting conspiracy of America's unknown son – it's incredibly brutal but what's most baffling? He has remained unknown to anyone for 60 years despite many trying to source his identity.

5: Cecil Hotel - The Death Of Elisa Lam

The Cecil Hotel in downtown Los Angeles has been the scene of numerous bizarre horrors, dozens of suicides and it even housed two serial killers. It's more recently well known for the disappearance of guest Elisa Lam in 2013.

Elisa was found in one of the water tanks on the roof of the Cecil. The reason why the police knew to look for Elisa in the water tanks was because some of the hotel tenants were complaining about the water from their sinks and showers.

Fun fact: Stace and Kel stayed at the Cecil Hotel the week Elisa Lam's body was found in the water tank and are convinced they drank corpse water.
