When it comes to global success stories Jeremy Loops may still be a relatively fresh name in mainstream Australia, but his credentials are world-class.
The last decade has seen the South African singer-songwriter and looping artist achieve 250 million-plus global streams, 840k monthly Spotify listeners, 700k social media fans, and songwriting credits that include Ed Sheeran ('Better Together').Now Loops has dropped his third studio album, 'Heard You Got Love', which features a special collaboration with one of his childhood favourites, Ladysmith Black Mambazo ('The Lion King') called 'This Town'.
Other musicians who feature on 'Heard You Got Love' include Simone Felice (The Lumineers), Jake Gosling (Shawn Mendes, Ed Sheeran), Tobias Kuhn (Milky Chance) and Carey Willets (Dermot Kennedy).
"My goal was to make something undeniably infectious and every song speaks to something I care deeply about," Jeremy says.
"This is the album I've always wanted to make and my hope is that some of the things I've written about will mean as much to others as they do to me."
The founder of Green Pop (where he plants one tree for every gig ticket sold) and The Big Food Drive (that provides fresh, nourishing produce to over 200 school children in vulnerable communities in South Africa), Loops has a strong affinity for Australian music as evidenced by this listicle of his favourite singer-songwriters from down under.
1: Hollow Coves
We've had them open on tour for us, and they're just lovely dudes who sing so beautifully – some of my favourite harmonies anywhere, so they're great.2:John Butler Trio
John Butler Trio are legends in my little surf town. For us growing up, they were everything. And in recent years, seeing John's persona on social media has made me love him more. They're great.3: Mat McHugh (The Beautiful Girls)
We grew up on The Beautiful Girls, and it was a total, mind-blowing experience when we had booked Mat McHugh who, unbeknownst to me, was the lead singer of The Beautiful Girls, to open for us on tour for his solo project.
4: Xavier Rudd
Early in my career, I took Xavier Rudd surfing and tree planting when he was in South Africa, and it was great building a relationship with him. Love his music, and it would be great to reconnect with him down under.5: Tash Sultana
Tash is a mega, mega talent, who has such an interesting and expressive approach to songwriting.I fondly remember how, when they were first blowing up, every other day someone would DM me saying I had to check out their music, especially as we're both loop artists, and it was refreshing to see someone who has that legit x-factor get all the cred they were due.
