Founder of the renowned Voltt event in Amsterdam, a Drumcode Records artist and with three decades of experience packed into his DJ kit bag, Bart Skils is one of Holland's most respected and forward thinking DJs-producers.
Recently releasing a two-song EP 'Shades Of Summer' with rising Canadian techno artist Weska, Bart is headed to Australia next week for Carl Cox's Pure 2022 tour, joining Dutch acid techno maestro Reinier Zonneveld for dates in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Sydney."Oh yes, oh yes! I had to dig deep in my vinyl archives to find it, but this legendary '90s mix from king Carl Cox made a huge impact on me as a young raving teenager.
"Now more than 20 years later I'm super excited that he invited me to join him for his Pure Australia 2022 tour.
"Five massive shows in different cities and I'm so ready for it!"
Ahead of the shows, Bart flies his national colours selecting five pure-fire Dutch dance bangers he still incorporates into his sets today.
"As an Amsterdam-based Dutch artist, I have a strong connection and friendship with all my fellow Dutch producers.
"Here are five Dutch dance classics that I still love to play!"
Jaydee - 'Plastic Dreams'
For me, this is the ultimate dance classic from my home country. We have produced a lot of great tracks in the 30 years of dance music, but this amazing piece from Robin Albers aka Jaydee still does an amazing job at every dance floor. Such a timeless track!
Format - 'Solid Session'
Another record that I've been playing for over two decades. Format is the alter ego from Dutch dance pioneer Orlando Voorn and it combines a great melody with an infectious groove. A standout that still sounds amazing.
I-F - 'Space Invaders Are Smoking Grass'
An incredible underground track that became a milestone for the famous Dutch electro sound hailing from the city of The Hague in the Netherlands. A raw, jacking beat with a vocoder vocal created an instant classic.
Joris Voorn - 'The Secret'
Joris Voorn is known for his big, melodic tracks and this one was released on Sven Vath's label Cocoon. It has a filtered, disco feel and sets every dance floor on fire. I still love to play this on open air stages in the sun.
Fatima Yamaha - 'What's A Girl To Do'
This track grew to become a classic over the years. It was a secret weapon in my sets for two years and slowly grew to become 'that special track' because it has such an emotional beautiful melody.Perfect to close a night and close the dance floor with a super-good feeling.
