Bluesy inspired indie rock born out of their collective love for the likes of The Last Shadow Puppets, Arctic Monkeys, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Led Zeppelin, Adelaide quartet Mums Favourite continue to build an impressive back catalogue including current single 'Joan Of The Arccade'.
Recent recipients of Five Four Entertainment's Artist Mentorship Program (alongside Divebar Youth and Oscar The Wild), 'Joan Of The Arcade' is a sizzling slice of atmospheric, psych-flecked rock & roll with Sasha's vocals drawing you in like a hot brew of coffee – intoxicating!Busy writing more tunes and doing gigs all over Adelaide (they recently played Umbrella Festival's opening night party), Mums Favourite next month includes supporting Vacations this weekend, salivating over themselves at Beer & BBQ Fest as well as playing Scouted 2022 and Arthur Art Bar's Aquarian Garden next month.
The only festival in Adelaide to induce Homer Simpson-style drooling, Beer & BBQ Fest (15-17 July) is a three-day gathering of the finest purveyors of BBQ and beer in South Australia (as well as a stack of interstate guests).
While you're feeding your gut and quenching your thirst, the live music on offer will have you burning off those excessive calories in no time.
The band line-up is headlined by Skegss and The Smith Street Band as well as appearances from Bodyjar, Private Function, 28 Days, Wagons, Jess Locke, Scabz, Wing Defence, Hubris, Los Palms, Molly Rocket and a stack more.
Here, each band member chooses their favourite dream ride.
Holden Sandman (1977)
Sasha (singer-songwriter): This car is the epitome of cool. I truly believe that driving one would teleport me back to the '70s where I could live forever.Suzuki Mighty Boy Ute (1986)
Maarlee (guitar): The Mighty Boy is simply just the best car ever. The Grumobile
Brooke (bass): Gru has unlimited swag and his ride is no exception. You can see everything from the drivers seat and the acceleration is off the charts.Toyota AE86
Nic (guitar): The sleek design/ silhouette and pop-up headlights make this an underdog car. I love the '80s Japanese drifting culture around it too.Honda City Turbo 2 (1983)
