5 Craziest Places Salt Tree Have Lived Together

Salt Tree is the pairing of Nathan Parsons (left) and ASKYA.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Margaret River locals, Salt Tree have come back together after three years of working on their solo projects (Nathan Parsons and ASKYA).

Nath and Tom combine vocal harmonies, guitar, and live beats, and despite being polar opposites in personality, there is a unique chemistry between them that needs to be heard. Oh, and they DJ together as Art Haus Music.

Salt Tree recently released their first track, 'She's The One'.

Ahead of a couple of live shows, they share a few places they've lived together.

1: The Pink Palace

When Tom first moved to Margaret River, he lived at The Pink Palace (his cousin's husband's uncle's place) and Nath later moved in as well. There were around 30 backpackers living there in vans, tents, on couches etc. There was only one bathroom.

2: Tom's caravan

Nath moved into Tom's caravan with him for a few days, which turned into weeks. To alleviate the situation, Tom had to wingman Nath with two Swedish sisters to let him stay in their bed. One of them then became Nath's girlfriend for a few years after that.

3: The Lake House

Tom and Nath rented a mansion on 130 acres, which had its own lake. They had a bunch of bush doofs and eventually got shut down by the shire because a goat farmer 4km away was making noise complaints.

4: On tour

On their first east-coast tour they bought a car with one window missing and slept in swags. The guys showered at Plus Fitness gyms – whose membership lets you go into any gym, so they used that to full advantage. Tom and Nath sold the car for $500 to four random dudes on the way to the airport at 4am in the morning. Nothing suss.

5: Europe

Although they didn't live together while there. For the past three years Tom lived half of the year in Zurich, Switzerland and Nath lived in Innsbruck, Austria. They both had European girlfriends. . . who left them. . . and now they write sad songs.
