Melbourne indie label Hysterical Records gets in on the fun of the super-popular Coburg Night Market when they host a special Christmas showcase at the end of the year.
Hysterical Records was founded with the intent to provide a voice for a diverse collection of artists that fit outside the mainstream. Extending beyond releasing records, the label works across all facets to maintain and strengthen the creative force of our talented community.
At the Christmas edition of Coburg Night Market, Hysterical Records present live sets from bands on their label including Dianas, Shiz Bish, HoT To RoT and Pinch Points.
On hand to help plan your time in Coburg when you're not at the markets is Amanda Vitartas from Hysterical Records, who lists her top five places in Coburg to visit for a nice time.
1. True North
The perfect start to any day – a bottomless black coffee and damn fine hangover breakfast with the widest array of hot sauces to choose from. Oh, and they have a wildly delicious array of vegan cakes that are so hard to resist.
True North, Coburg
2. Hot Copper Tattoo Studio
Next stop, Hot Copper Tattoo Studio – a go-to fave of mine. You’d be a lil hard pressed to get an appointment with the excellent Clare Clairty without a lot of pre-planning, but this studio has some of Melbourne's best femme tattoo artists and really great guest artists on the reg.
3. Half Moon Cafe
I used to go to another falafel place when I used to live in Coburg. But since it’s now closed, Half Moon gets my vote for a lunchtime falafel snack break.
Half Moon Cafe, Coburg
4. Coburg Drive-In
One of the last drive-in’s in the north, this place might not last too much longer… well, at least ten years. But who knows after that.
5. Post Office Hotel
The best front bar music destination of Coburg. The bookers have done a damn fine job of getting this up and running into a go-to weekly destination for very, very good bands. And I don’t think you could name a more iconic female toilet.
