5 Banger Songs You'll Hear At Regurgitator's UNIT Mini-Fest Shared By Platonic Sex

Platonic Sex are an alt-rock band from Brisbane.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

To mark the 25th anniversary (last November) of their 'UNIT' album, ('Polyester Girl' is 25!), Regurgitator will perform the record in all its pixelated density, along with an extended set of their hits across time at a special mini festival at Eatons Hill Hotel this Saturday.

They'll be joined together in plasma by a plethora of dynamic musical cohorts they've curated: DZ Deathrays, Custard, Models, Butterfingers, Screamfeeder, Resin Dogs and many more (including local thrash-folk rockers Platonic Sex) for a full day of live music across two stages with no crossovers.

As the presser says: 'Code for rhymes. Products of time.'

Recently nominated as a finalist for the Carol Lloyd Award as part of 2023 Queensland Music Awards, Platonic Sex are "mega-excited to share stages with Regurgitator, DZ and Deathrays plus some of our faves this weekend".

After a string of single releases since 2021, late last year the band released their debut EP 'GRIP'.

Here they share 5 songs they're amped to hear at the Gorge's UNIT 25 mini festival.

Butterfingers - 'FIGJAM'

Mikki: This song is such a classic. It always gets you feeling energetic, and dare I say cool?! One of the funkiest intros around.

Regurgitator - 'Polyester Girl'

Mikki: An obvious banger. This track heavily featured in the soundtrack of my childhood, as well as the present day. So catchy, it's a mainstay in Australian music.

DZ Deathrays - 'Dollar Chills'

Mikki: I've been a fan of this song since its release about ten years ago; it's so fiery. I used to work in the snow, and I always felt really cool putting it on while snowboarding.

The Stress of Leisure - 'I Wanna Be Adult'

Mikki: This song has the best synth-line throughout; it reminds me of a lot of songs I grew up listening to. Ian's vocals are so sick, and the song is quintessential Brissie boppy rock, which I love.

Screamfeeder - 'Hi Cs'

Ryan: We got to play with Screamfeeder at the Reclink Community Cup last year. This track is an iconic Brisbane tune. It makes me feel at home, and I love jumping around to it.

Regurgitator's '25 Years Of UNIT' mini festival takes place at Eatons Hill Outdoors & Ballroom (Brisbane) 25 March.
