5 Australian Rock Live Music Venues Endorsed By Rinser

Rinser
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Gold Coast psych-riff heavyweights Rinser have embarked on an east-coast tour, celebrating their new single 'Greed', that's lifted from their upcoming debut album.

Since their formation in 2019, Rinser have built a solid following with their immersive, full-body experience characterised by powerful riffs, fuzzy grooves, and progressive songwriting.

They've supported a range of Australian and international acts, including Hands Like Houses, Greenleaf, 1000mods, Nebula, Hobo Magic, Vasco Era, Witchskull, Yawning Man, and Pandamic.

After kicking off the five-date tour last weekend (in Brisbane and Toowoomba), and ahead of dates in Sydney and Wollongong this weekend (both are free entry) before a home-town show at the end of the month, here the band share five of their favourite rock live music venues in Australia.

1: Frankie's Pizza vs The Duke (Sydney)

There was something special about Frankie's Pizza. A hang of mega proportions where suits mixed with rockers on a nightly basis with some of the best underground touring bands in Australia and flat-out classic rock DJs seven nights a week.

From crowded backroom bathrooms, to mini fire escape parties, to the epic pizza and hospo from the team, Frankie's had it all and will be sadly missed. Taking the helm in NSW now for us is The Duke. Packed to the brim with an all-sorts crowd, The Duke brings the same energy left from the departing venue. We love it and can't wait to play there.

2: Cherry Bar (Melbourne)

The international rock venue destination from everyone from Guns N Roses to your fave Aus hard-rock bands, Cherry Bar has always had rock & roll covered in Victoria. With the great man himself James Young at the helm in his trademark hat, Cherry Bar always delivers on the hospitality and good vibes side of things. Probably the most iconic rock venue in Australia still present after all these years.

3: Indian Ocean Hotel (Perth)

From touring a heap of bands over to WA through Beats Cartel (Radio Moscow, Deville, 1000mods, Nick Oliveri and more), band guitarist Christian Tryhorn says the agreeance from all international rock lords was that the Indian Ocean Hotel was their favourite venue to play in Australia.

With hotel rooms a short stumble away, the pool for a morning dip, the beach surrounds of Scarborough and a legend of an owner in Marcus Sarich, I've never had a bad time at The Indy Bar. Perth supporters are the best! Just have to try and break even getting over there, haha.

4: The Cranker (Adelaide)

With a milestone win this week saving the face of the venue, it's a big cheers and bottoms up to my favourite bar in South Australia. Nothing fancy, nothing 'scene', just a quality southern state ol' school bar with amazing food upstairs, a tight bandroom and a legendary team. Long live The Cranker!

5: Mo's Desert Clubhouse (Gold Coast)

Has to be said that our home base Mo's Desert Clubhouse brings the vibe we all dig every time we play there. We know the owners, we know the regulars and the in-house backline, tech and rider is at a premium for one of the newest and best venues in Australia. We finish off the tour at Mo's for Ancient Gates. Keen as a bean.
