5 Aussie Metal Bands With Bulletbelt

Bulletbelt
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

“Although you Aussies have tried to claim Phar Lap, Crowded House and Dragon off us (you can keep Russell Crowe and Quade Cooper), we’ve always had great respect for your quality, metal scene! Here’s our top 5 Aussie metal bands,” Bulletbelt.

Blood Duster

Looking like some Housos running a tinny house down the end of some crescent in White Trash suburbia, they made their own sound. Excellent titles like 'Fisting The Dead', 'Menstrual Soup' and 'C*nt' make Blood Duster one of a kind!

Mortal Sin

I discovered these guys in Hot Metal mag in the late '80s when thrash was king . Tight jeans – check. White Nike hi-tops – check. These guys were A-grade thrash. The first two albums: 'Mayhemic Destruction' and 'Face Of Despair' are classics!

Destroyer 666

Catchier than Wake Up Jeff and sweatier than Rolf Harris at a Wiggles concert, these guys are the black/ thrash maestros. 'Unchain The Wolves' still gets regular spins in my crib.

Sadistik Exekution

Scary, feral, unnerving. Kinda like Tony Abbott in a speedo. Sad Ex talked the talk and walked the walk. As Angry Anderson said, nice boys don’t play rock & roll, and these guys were off their f*cking rokkers!

AC/DC

I have a sure-fire method to get me up for another night of drinking if I’ve done the previous night and am feeling the pinch. Crank 'Have A Drink On Me' off 'Back In Black' on full volume.

New Zealand’s Bulletbelt play New Globe Theatre 23 April with Midnight (US).
