5 Artists Tiga Rates From 2010 To Now

Tiga
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Following last year’s dancefloor diamonds ‘Don’t Break My Heart’ and ‘Bugatti’, Montreal techno legend Tiga is back with his first album in seven years, 'No Fantasy Required'.

The lead single is the Hudson Mohawke collaboration, ‘Planet E’. ‘No Fantasy Required’ is all about friends, as Tiga collaborates with key producer Matthew Dear and Finnish wizard Jori Hulkkonen (who also performs with him live).

Jake Shears of the Scissor Sisters and Paranoid London also contribute to the record, which Tiga feels is “more honest, open and playful”.

Asked to provide a Top 5 list, Tiga decided to compile a list of his favourite artists from 2010 to now.

1. The xx

It’s really difficult to explain. When I first heard The xx it was like a classic love affair. I love the songs, I love the focus.

2. Burial

It’s very moody and electronic but incredibly emotional and sweet in a really nice way. I loved how he was totally separate from the world: you didn’t know what he looked like.

3. Young Thug

I just really like how he looks and how he dresses. He’s got so much star quality, he’s truly original.

4. Zombie

He’s really good and someone who emerged recently that I would say I’m a fan of.

5. Gesaffelstein

You know, he’s just great. He’s fantastic.

‘No Fantasy Required’ is out now.
