A solo project that began life in 2019 after Tori Zietsch returned from living in the UK, Maple Glider is an Australian pop-folk singer-songwriter.
Her music is centred around serene acoustic guitar melodies and fragile yet striking piano chords, Maple Glider using her own life experiences and the new perspectives that travel brings to individuals to weave vignettes about growing up in a restrictive religious household, falling in and out of love, and interstate/ international relocations.Last year, Tori released her debut album, the lush yet stark and utterly beautiful 'To Enjoy Is The Only Thing'.
Currently touring that includes festival appearances at Umbrella Festival (Adelaide) and Wanderer Festival (Sapphire Coast), in October Maple Glider will support Rolling Coastal Blackouts Fever on their Australian tour.
Here, Tori shares five amazing combinations of random things – and a song for each mood.
Rain falling through a tree canopy
A water droplet on your nose. A warm jacket and comfortable shoes. No phone reception. 'Sunset Village' by Beverly Glenn-Copeland.
Crosswords in bed
An easy glide pen. Fresh sheets. Butter-honey toast and a cup of coffee. It's Sunday morning. 'Romance' by Frantz Casseus.
A bike ride with no where to be
People celebrating in the park. Dogs are out. Sun on your legs. You woke up earlier than usual, to no alarm. 'Let Me In Your Life' by Asha Puthli.
A ripe tangelo, mid winter
Juice from the bite spills over your cheeks. Ran into a friend at the market. Laughed. Maybe you'll just potter around today. 'Are You Leaving For The Country' by Karen Dalton.
Rainforest sounds in the bath
Mid week. Soft, flickering light. Dinner in the oven. Slippers at the door. It's early still. 'Serene Daytime Rainforest Ambience' by Nature Sounds.
