Aussie artist Kronic (aka Luke Calleja) started out as trap/ hip hop producer before moving to LA working with Lil Jon and the likes.
His new single, 'Rendezvous', is his cross-over pop track that features American actor/ musician, Grammy winner, and who co-wrote Ariana Grande's 'Yours Truly' album, Leon Thomas.
Wih co-production credits on Pitbull's recent album 'Climate Change' and currently working on projects with Jason Derulo and Justin Bieber, DJ Kronic shares 5 of his all-time favourite collaborations.
Leon Thomas
Leon Thomas is the most widely talented alien to ever walk the Earth! At only 22, he's already an accomplished actor, writer, vocalist and Grammy Award winning producer. Apart from lending me his vocals and writing skills for 'Rendezvous', Leon worked with me on Austin Mahone's project.We actually have an entire experimental EP we made together a few years ago; we're just figuring out how to release it.
Madeaux
Andrew Berman aka Madeaux has rapidly become one of my favourite humans in music and life. We tell the same stories through out music, but from different perspectives. His debut album 'BURN' is out soon on Fool's Gold, is nothing short of dark, disturbed, underground house brilliance.I enlisted Madeaux to remix my single 'Rendezvous', but our first real collaboration, 'Night Time', just premiered on Diplo & Friends. No release date yet so don't ask!
Lil Jon
Without Lil Jon, I might not being living in LA. Working with Jon on his record 'Bend Ova' opened a lot of doors for me. Since then, we've released a few more records together: 'Beast', 'Bad B*tches', 'La Vida Esa Una' - but the best is yet to come, trust me. Jon and I work together pretty much monthly at this point and right now we're working on two full-length projects.Austin Mahone
Working with Austin is a producer's dream; he's incredibly talented, works tirelessly and is open to almost every idea you can throw at him. Late last year, Austin spent a week with me at my house. In those seven days, we wrote and recorded almost a dozen songs with him including 'Pretty & Young', which was included on his recent EP. This kid has some real R&B chops. It's gonna to be huge year for him.DJ White Shadow
Most people know White Shadow aka Paul Blair as the writer and producer behind some of Lady Gaga's best records. But to me, White Shadow is just my crazy roommate. Apart from providing a constant stream of hilarious anecdotes, Paul is a phenomenal producer in the truest sense of the word.Sharing a roof with him as had a significant impact on both my craft and personal life. Apart from recruiting me to remix Lady Gaga's 'Do What U Want', Paul and I worked together on two tracks for Pitbull's album: 'Dedicated' (with R Kelly and Austin Mahone) and 'Sexy Body' with J-Lo.
Kronic plays Sea N Sound Festival (Sunshine Coast) 10 June. Other acts playing include Boy & Bear, Busby Marou and Tijuana Cartel.
