Wax Motif has become a pioneer for the G-House movement, working with Destructo for his album on Interscope with the likes of Ty Dolla Sign, YG, Yung Thug and Warren G.
With influences ranging from R & B to disco and UK bass, he has attracted the attention of everyone from Mau5trap to OWSLA. His debut EP for Mad Decent, ‘True Joy’, is a reflection of this multi-genre approach, albeit with a G-house focus.Wax has released tracks and remixes through A-trak’s Fool’s Gold, Skrillex’s OWSLA and Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records. Here, he reps five acts to add to your playlist.
1. Drezo Andre
is def. on the come up [sic]; everything he’s been putting out lately has been straight fire and I find myself playing at least one if not two, three songs every set.2. Rezz
Young gun Rezz is off to a strong start. She has her own sound and the production chops to match. Think Gesaffelstein but a little quirkier. Biggup The Nest HQ for helping kick start her career.3. Malaa
The mysterious French house/ G-House producer doesn’t have a lot out but his track ‘Notorious’ is getting rinsed in my sets. With support already from DJ Snake and Tchami he’s a pretty safe bet to have a long-standing career in dance music. With his first US tour imminent it will be interesting to see how this story develops.4. Sleepy Tom
He might not be super new to most people but Tom’s sound is growing in popularity everyday. Clean and consistent production has seen him work with big names like Diplo and Anna Lunoe. Don’t sleep on Tom.5. Joyryde
This guy has kinda come out of nowhere with a slew of free downloads. A great balance between trap and bass house with consistent production means his tracks will always find a home in my sets.Wax Motif Tour Dates
