Australian born and LA-based DJ-producer, Anna Lunoe is back in action with the release of new single '303'.
An ode to the Roland TB-303 bass synthesiser and acid house culture, Anna’s new track packs the perfect combination of house grooves and bouncing basslines.
“The thing about the Roland 303 is that even if you don't know what it is,” Anna says.
“I know you probably love it. It's been in some of the best songs ever. It's a bass synthesiser that is small, sounds bleepy and acidy, and is very annoying to programme. Here's some proof with five fire tracks that the 303 makes more awesome.”
Daft Punk - 'Da Funk'
Tell me you don't want to jump around the place when that acid bass solo comes in. It makes your chest hairy! It makes people look more attractive! It's IT chief.
Aaliyah - 'Try Again'
Damn left turn. Pop music made infinitely cooler by a 303. Still sounds amazing and so current.
Orange Juice - 'Rip It Up'
I have always loved this song. The bassline makes it. Go on, add this to every playlist you share with your friends; it'll make you look smart.
A Guy Called Gerald - 'Voodoo Ray'
I still remember the first time I heard this. I was immediately drawn into the hypnotic loop of the vocal and now that I think about it, I think it laid the foundation for my track 'Real Talk' from 2012; there, the vocal three-bar loop kept you locked start to finish. But the 303 adds so much on this.
'303' - BY MEEEEEEEE!
HAHAHAHA! YES, THIS WHOLE THING WAS A SET-UP. Honestly, I don't know if this is one of the best tracks made with a 303, but it's mine and I'm making the list right now so too bad. Honestly though, this bangs in the club and I'm proud of it; would be nothing without the 303.
