Queensland's annual celebration of the state's finest artists, songwriters and bands, the Queensland Music Awards 2025 finalists have been revealed.
While there's no single group or act who dominates the nominations, several artists have received two nominations including Beddy Rays, Thelma Plum, Tenzin Choegyal, Beckah Amani, JUNGAJI, LT and Greta Stanley.Father-daughter duo Troy (Country) and Jem (Indigenous) Cassar-Daley have each received one nomination, while other well-known artists to notch a solo nomination include Confidence Man, The Kite String Tangle, Full Flower Moon Band, Young Franco, Asha Jefferies, Hope D, Sycco, Sahara Beck, Cigány Weaver.
Returning to defend their 2024 titles are classical guitar virtuoso Karin Schaupp (Contemporary Classical Award) and jazz outfit Andrew Butt Trio (Jazz Award), while there are several of last year’s winners battling it out in other categories in 2025: 2024 Soul-Funk-RNB winner Sahara Beck (Rock Award) and 2024 Billy Thorpe Scholarship winner Lottie McLeod (Folk Award).
The People's Choice Awards – fan voted award – includes for the first time the coveted Album Of The Year (with 35 artists contending) as well as Metro and Regional Venue Of The Year and Festival Of The Year awards.
"For 20 years, the QMAs have been a launchpad for homegrown artists, highlighting the extraordinary talent coming from all corners of the state," QMusic CEO Kris Stewart says.
"What's particularly exciting is seeing emerging stars holding their own against some of Australia's most established names – it's tomorrow's future music legends, neck and neck with today's."
Winners will be revealed at The Fortitude Music Hall (Brisbane) on Tuesday 25 March.
