Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Last night's (18 May) Australian Women In Music Awards (AWMAs) at Brisbane's The Tivoli saw Deborah Cheetham AO honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, with other awards presented to the likes of Alice Ivy, Eliza Hull, Dina Bassile and more.

The atmosphere was electric during the ceremony, where women from all backgrounds in music were celebrated for their creativity, courage, and contribution to Australia's music industry.

This year's event included a brand-new Change Maker Award, given to Jaguar Jonze and Tamara Georgopoulos and recognising their bravery. It was established by Founding Executive Producer and Program Director Vicki Gordon and presented by 'Little Pattie' Amphlett. The Change Maker Award recognises a new generation of women selflessly placing themselves on the front line, to call out bad behaviour, bullying and sexual harassment in the music industry.

It was an even spread of winners across all categories. This year's Emerging Artist Award was handed to Martha Marlow, while Tania Doko took home the Songwriter Award and Genevieve Lacey was recognised for her illustrious career as the winner of the Excellence In Classical Music Award.

Meanwhile, slow fashion label Racy & Lucky founder Cindy Vogels (who has had one of her designs worn by pop icon Lady Gaga) was presented with the Excellence In Image Making Award, recognising a stylist working to change the face of music visually in order to break down gender, race and social/cultural stereotypes.

The 2022 ceremony will be broadcast for the first time on ABC on 21 May. Dame Olivia Newton-John AC DBE will be inducted into the AWMA Honour Roll, alongside music legends Helen Reddy and Judith Durham AO. This was celebrated at the ceremony through a special tribute to Olivia performed by Tina Arena.

Congratulations to all winners of the 2022 Australian Women In Music Awards.
