2020 Groundwater Country Music Festival Grounded (For Now) Due To COVID-19

The 2020 Groundwater Country Music Festival has been grounded due to the ongoing restrictions in place due to COVID-19.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

The annual Groundwater Country Music Festival, that takes over Broadbeach on the Gold Coast every July, will not proceed in its usual format in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions on mass gatherings still being in place.

The decision has been made by the Broadbeach Alliance in compliance with the current Queensland government's legislation on non-essential mass gatherings, which makes it unfeasible for the event to proceed in July.

Kasey Chambers, Shannon Noll, Sunny Cowgirls and Gina Jeffreys were among a slew of country stars set to headline the 2020 edition.

While it is a disappointing outcome for the many thousands of country music fans who descend on the Gold Coast (a record 70,000 last year), the Groundwater team are not resting with alternative options to staging the 2020 event being explored. Stay tuned for updates.
