West Australian Music (WAM) is on the search again for WA's best songs.
Presented by Act-Belong-Commit, WAM's Song of the Year competition is open for West Australian songwriters, bands and producers to put their best foot forward and submit their best hits.
Closing on Monday 25 March at 5pm, you will have to get in quickly to get the mix mastered and cover art sorted as there is just a short amount of time left to submit your work.
Presenting an exciting and unique opportunity for WAM's Song of the Year contestants, the competition recognising songwriting excellence across all genres and ages in the following categories: Blues/Roots, Country, Electronic, Experimental, Folk, Jazz, Metal/Heavy, Punk/Hardcore, Pop, Rock, Urban/Hip Hop and World, plus extra categories for Schools 14 Years & Under, Schools 15-17, Outstanding Indigenous and Outstanding Regional.
Introducing a new edition to the awards, WAM have also included a new category to the competition that touches on any aspect of Healthway's (The West Australian Health Promotion Foundation) message of 'Act-Belong-Commit'.
Stella Donnelly was the grand prize winner of the 2018 WAM Song Of The Year Awards.
This brief ranges from talking about the importance of community and connectedness, to mental health, the journey of striving for mental and physical wellbeing, and even the enjoyment of attaining them. The category helps promote the reminder to focus on wellbeing during a time when mental health is a growing issue facing today's songwriters.
In true celebration of the craftsmanship and skill of West Australian artists, the competition has over $45,000 worth of prizes on offer across seventeen categories. Included is more cash prizes, studio time with West Australia's finest and a massive grand prize of everything you need to launch that next special release.
