2018 WAM Awards Winners

Elise Reitze-Swensen and Rosie Taylor (Feels) picked up three WAMAwards
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

This year's WAMFest and WAMCon festivities have been kicked off in spectacular style with the 2018 WAM Awards recognising the cream of the WA music crop.

Celebrating the exciting yet humble industry of Western Australia - one that certainly punches above its weight when it comes to producing great musical talent - the WAM Awards once more welcomed

A double 'WAMi' for several artists saw Alana Macpherson, Caitlin Nienaber, Carla Geneve (read our recent interview with Carla here), Feels, Jacob Diamond, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets and Odette Mercy all walk away with two awards each.

Though it was Elise Reitze-Swensen and Rosie Taylor of electronic duo Feels who lead the sweep by picking up three awards, with their label Women Of Music Production Perth (WOMPP) earning Label Of The Year on top of the Best Live Electronic Act and Best Electronic Producer awards.

It was a warm welcome home for adored former RTRFM brekkie host Caitlin Nienaber who, after relocating east earlier in the year, returned to accept both the Industry Representative Of The Year award and prestigious Golden WAMi.

There was also a tribute honouring the two Hall Of Fame Inductees for 2018, Dixie Battersley from DB Publicity and The Stems. They take their place alongside the local legends who came before them for their integral contribution to shaping the current landscape of the local and national music industry.

Mojo's Bar again emerged as WA's favourite spot, picking up the award for Most Popular Venue for the fifth year in a row.

The night also featured stellar performances by Hall of Fame inductees The Stems, award winners Gina Williams & Guy Ghouse, Carla Geneve, Hyclass and award nominees Gemma Farrell Quintet, Your Girl Pho, and Ralway Bell.

Scenestr congratulates all of this year's WAMAwards winners.
