Oktoberwest, Inner West Sydney’s very own beer fest that is part of Sydney Beer Week, has released their first line-up of bands who'll take to the stage surrounded by frothy beers from the likes of Young Henrys, Willie The Boatman and Wayward Brewing Co.

Self-proclaimed as an 'out of control nostalgia joyride', Birdman: The Unexpected Virtue of a Tony Hawk Pro Skater Cover Band headline the musical offering with their massive catalogue of covers certain to have you dancing merrily with your pints.

Other additions include post-disco poster boy Donny Benet (supplying the German vibes with a tribute DJ set to electro-pioneers Kraftwerk) and Frenzal Rhomb’s Lindsay McDougall who'll keep the beer hall rockin’ well into the evening.

Americana doom-fuzz rockers The Lockhearts will also be hitting the stage as well as Newtown punk heroes Scabz, no doubt blasting their huge track ‘Victoria Bitter’. Also joining the line-up are local legends The Persian Drugs, The Morrisons, Ainsley Farrell and Max Quinn with further acts still to be announced.

"The Inner West is the new craft brewing capital of Australia and Oktoberwest is set to become the premier beer festival for showcasing the fantastic beers being produced here, add to that the amazing local bands we have lined up and you've got the recipe for one of Australia's best beer festivals," Peter Philip, Founder Wayward Brewing Co and President of Inner West Brewery Association, says.

Other breweries who'll showcase at Oktoberwest include The Grifter Brewing Co., Batch Brewing Co, Sauce Brewing Co and Malt Shovel Brewery. Festival goers will also have the chance to score some sweet prizes with a few rounds of Brewery Bingo.

The inaugural Oktoberwest takes place at Factory Theatre (Sydney) 22 October.
