Aussie rock-pop band 1927 are bringing the '80s back to audiences around the country with a massive 39-date tour criss-crossing Australia from late April to early September.
Known for their radio hits 'If I Could', 'That's When I Think Of You', 'You'll Never Know' and 'Compulsory Hero', 1927 became instant overnight sensations with the release of their debut album '...ish' in 1988.The record would remain in the ARIA album charts for 46 weeks, going 5-times platinum with sales in excess of 400,000 copies.
The band also won ARIA Awards for Breakthrough Artist in both the Single and Album categories in 1989 followed in 1990 for Best Video (for 'Compulsory Hero').
"Whatever you think you're going to see and hear is not what you're going to see and hear," the band's original singer and only remaining founding member, Erik Weiderman says.
"If you have not seen this version of 1927 perform these songs live, well, I won't say you're in for a shock, you're in for a treat."
1927 released two more albums in the early '90s – 'The Other Side' (1990) and '1927' (1992) - before disbanding; Weiderman reformed the band in the late 2000s with a new group of musicians touring with Roxette and Simple Minds, before releasing the band's fourth album 'Generation-i' in 2013.
Set to join the tour will be former Taxiride frontman Jason Singh.
