With previous comparisons to Golden Features and Rufus Du Sol, Perth electronic artist Solsta returns with another tech-house banger 'Together' featuring electronic songstress BEXX on vocals.
"The track came together so smoothly. I instantly fell in love with the vocal effect BEXX put over the drop and her voice really complements the production," Solsta says.
"I'd have to say I'm really impressed and proud of how the vocals flow from the verse to build to chorus.
"The vocal swells and harmonies really work to drive the track forward and build this sense of momentum when paired with the various synths and other instruments I used. The track just constantly moves and pushes forward in such a gorgeous, lush way."
Here, Solsta shares a few tracks new in 2021 that have caught his attention.
'Who Loved You Better' - KRANE feat. Panama
This track feels so organic. From the sounds used, to the flow of the vocal melody, it just feels so real and down to earth.
'Teen Scene (Wax Motif remix)' - Maeta feat. Buddy
An absolute killer garage remix, but what sets it apart is just the sheer beauty in the melodic aspects. It all melds together to create a nice hybrid. It's so hard, but so sweet at the same time.
'Say It' - Choomba feat. LP Giobbi & Blush'ko
All of Choomba's music is loose, but this is just next level. The wonky bass and off-beat drums just add so much flavour and pair so perfectly with the vocal.
'Together' - Panama, Jerro
'Together' sounds absolutely beautiful. It's such a well-constructed song and listening to it feels like a journey. Panama's voice really complements the mellow production.
'Dawn (Hayden James remix)' - BRONSON feat. Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs)
I'd never heard this side of Hayden James before, but I gotta say it sounds so good. The original 'Dawn' is a slower, cinematic tune but Hayden James gave it some bounce. It's a whole, new song.
'Take Control' - KREAM
These boys from Norway are on the come up big time in the house/ deep house scene, and this track is just another step forward in their journey. The bass in this track is huge and if its groove doesn't make you bop, you must not be listening to the right tune.
'The Blame (Lastlings remix)' - Bob Moses
This track's a bit on the melancholic side, but sometimes you just need to get in your feels. The structure of this song and the way the melody and counter melody fuse together evokes some pretty deep emotions.
'You've Done Enough (Terrace Dub)' - Gorgon City, DRAMA
I love the reverb-washed vocals in this track, but what really makes it stand out is the uniqueness of the drop. Going down an octave with the lead/ bass is a ballsy move, but it works so well in the context of the song.
'Anything (Body Ocean remix)' - Alison Wonderland, Valentino Khan
The original is a tune in itself, but Body Ocean makes the bassline so fat. There's this little bass glide every four bars that just makes me bite my lip in heat.
'Nowhere (Odd Mob remix)' - Otosan
This has so much oomph to it, but is so sweet at the same time. The drums in this are so well done, so clean, so tight. I think I could listen to an instrumental with just those drums and vibe just as much as the full version.
