Michael Bay — the powerhouse director responsible for atrocities hits like 'Transformers', 'Pearl Harbour' and 'Armageddon' — has had an embarrasing meltdown at a tech conference in Las Vegas.
Appearing at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2014 to promote Samsung's curved 4K TVs, Bay lost track of the teleprompter, blew his lines, and then silently walked off the stage to the puzzlement of the packed audience.
"My job as a director is I get to dream for a living," Bay began. "I create visual worlds that are so beyond everyone's normal life experiences, and Hollywood is a place that creates a viewer escape, and what I try to do as a director is I try to..."
Bay then trailed off, let out a loud sigh, and complained: "The type is all off. Sorry, but I'll just wing this. I try to take people on an emotional ride, and..." Bay then trailed off again.
Samsung exec Joe Stinziano, sensing a social media disaster on his hands, tried to salvage the presentation by asking Bay how the new TVs might affect the way viewers experience his movies. Bay wasn't having any of it.
"Excuse me, I'm sorry," Bay said, before the dazed director walked off the stage in silence.

Shortly afterwards, a contrite Bay released this statement on his website: "Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES. I rarely lend my name to any products, but this one is just stellar... I got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the exec VP's intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down — then I walked off. I guess live shows aren't my thing."
Of course, Bay's greatest moment as a corporate spokesperson will always be this genius Commonwealth Bank ad.
