‘Joker: Folie à Deux’
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

The wait is over – audiences at Las Vegas CinemaCon, and now fans across the world, have been treated to the first trailer for the Todd Phillips ‘Joker’ sequel, ‘Folie à Deux’, starring Joaquin Phoenix And Lady Gaga.

DC and Lady Gaga fans alike have been clamouring for a proper look at the upcoming film, set for an early October release, since it began production in 2022. The film has a reported budget of $200 million – a steep incline from the first ‘Joker’’s $60 million. It's also a musical film, with an expected 15 songs.

The trailer sees Joker (Joaquin Phoenix) where we last left him – in prison – and what follows is a number of scenes and lines of dialogue which are just enough to tease audiences without giving too much away. It seems the musical element will come through music therapy, and the big musical numbers could primarily be figments of Joker and Harley Quinn's (Lady Gaga) imaginations.

The internet’s initial response seems to be positive for the most part.

‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ is in cinemas 3 October.
