This is a must-see for Batman fans.
In honour of Batman's 75th anniversary, Bruce Timm — the co-creator and driving force behind 'Batman: The Animated Series', a '90s institution — has created an animated short that hits all the right notes.
'Batman: Strange Days', a moody, sepia-toned period piece set in 1939 (the year Batman first appeared), sees the Caped Crusader face off with Hugo Strange, Hugo's pet monster, and a blonde damsel who wouldn't look out of place in a Universal monster movie.
The piece was conceived, written, storyboarded, designed and directed by Timm, an unusual level of creative control for mainstream American animation. But then, only a true auteur could have been responsible for the moment when Batman straight-up throws a brick in the monster's face.

Though Batman's 75th birthday technically fell on March 30, DC Entertainment will be rolling out Bat-content until July 23, which they've officially labelled 'Batman Day'.
(Of course, they'll be rolling out Bat-content every day after that, too, because that's how cash cows work.)
