Victory! Doug Ellin Reunites With 'Entourage' Cast On Weekly Podcast

Doug Ellin co-hosts Victory The Podcast.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Created during the pandemic lockdown last year, each week 'Entourage' creator Doug Ellin reunites with a couple of the show's iconic characters to reminisce about the hit show (that became must-watch TV in the noughties) as well as share inside stories with a slew of guest stars.

Victory The Podcast features Doug alongside 'Entourage' stars Kevin Dillon (Johnny 'Drama' Chase) and Kevin Connolly (Eric Murphy) as they breakdown the series with past cast mates and share personal anecdotes.

"It's been awesome," Doug explains. "[Dillion] is as funny in real life as he was on the show. In the podcast, he's not afraid to play into that Johnny Drama vibe. He's hilariously funny, and Connolly too. They've both been great."

Already gaining a cult following that has seen it become the #1 podcast in Australia, each hour-long episode feels like a fun chat with friends (with a lot of laughs). "We get to do it all which makes it so much fun for me," enthuses Doug.

"We can talk about our personal lives, our careers, what's going on in the world, and everything. And we kind of lace it with that undertone of 'Entourage' – even when we bring guests on. "It's a good hour to hang out with your friends and get away from the rest of the miserable news that's all over the world."

They've had plenty of familiar faces from the show appearing on the podcast, such as Jeremy Piven (Ari Gold), Emmanuelle Chriqui (Sloan), Rex Lee (Lloyd), Jerry Farrara (Turtle), Bob Saget, Ralph Macchio, Rhys Coiro (Billy Walsh), Josh LeBar (Josh Weinstein), and more.

"I didn't expect to really enjoy it as much as I have," Ellin admits. "It's kind of given a rebirth to the show.

"I think this has really gotten us a second look to a whole new generation, because the amount of young people that are suddenly talking to me about the show has been pretty wild."

With the popularity surrounding Victory The Podcast, there's already a viral groundswell building for HBO to reboot 'Entourage'. Your thoughts Mr Ellin?

"I'm more interested in talking [about a reboot] now than I was six months ago because [I'm seeing] these guys again. It's kind of like your high school best friends – you get back together and it feels like no time has passed.

"I feel like there's a lot of stuff we could still do. I don't spend a lot of time thinking about it, because I feel like the podcast is a little bit of the 'flavour' of what the show was and hopefully people are getting that.

"If it were to come together, it would be fun."

Doug has also announced he's working on a new television series called 'Day 1's', alongside 'Kingsmen' director Matthew Vaughn and French footballer Thierry Henry.

The show will be a gritty, realistic look at Premier League Football in England – loosely inspired by Thierry's own experiences from childhood to stardom.

"Thierry was in the 'Entourage' movie and his manager's a good friend of mine – he's been asking me for seven years to write this," Doug explains.

"Getting into the whole grind of a TV show is a lot, so I was reluctant to do it. But when the pandemic happened and I was sitting around I was thinking that it might be time.

"It's still got some similar beginnings to how 'Entourage' started with Mark Wahlberg and his manager.

"Matthew Vaughn is supposed to direct the pilot. It could be exciting – we'll see."
