The original 'This Is Spinal Tap' is still arguably one of the greatest mockumentaries of all time. Released in 1984, it follows one of England's loudest bands on what proves to be a disastrous US tour.
The film also gifted a generation of would-be rockers some of cinema's greatest lines including 'these go to eleven'; 'it's such a fine line between stupid, and uh. . . clever'; and 'none more black'.
Although the gold medal prob goes to this pearler: 'Certainly, in the topsy-turvy world of heavy rock, having a good solid piece of wood in your hand is often useful.'
The remixed and remastered 'This Is Spinal Tap' in cinemas from 7 August, 2025.
