The Simpsons have paid homage to master animator and filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki, who has announced he is signing off his career with his last animated feature, 'The Wind Rises'.
When Homer Simpson wanders the streets after drinking too much wine, he finds himself in a parallel world derived from the films of Miyazaki. Slate have flagged each of the Miyazaki film references in the sequence, except the Seymour Skinner box kite. The episode airs on Fox this Sunday (US).
