It feels like a lifetime ago that the internet lost its collective mind for Sharknado (in reality, it was around this time last month). But just when it seemed completely played out, the Syfy channel has reignited Sharknadomania by revealing the sequel's title.
Rather brilliantly, it's simply called Sharknado 2: The Second One.
The 'idea' belongs to a Twitter user who put his thinking cap on after the cable channel invited fans to pitch names for the sequel (Syfy neglected to credit the particular user).
"Since Twitter played such a huge role in the success of the original movie, we wanted to use that platform to ask our fans to name Sharknado 2," says Thomas Vitale, executive VP of programming at Syfy. "This response is another reminder of how Sharknado has become a pop culture phenomenon. We want to thank all our viewers for their wonderful contributions to keeping up the shark-mentum."
Sharknado 2: The Second One, which will again be produced by The Asylum, is set for catch-and-release in July 2014.
