Cockatoo Island, situated in the heart of Sydney's iconic harbour, is set to play host to Australia's most exciting new film festival.
The inaugural Cockatoo Island Film Festival will play host to a plethora of local and international movies, and is expected to attract crowds of up to 40,000 including respected film-makers and celebrities.
The festival boasts an enticing program including screenings of the controversial Paul Thomas Anderson film, The Master; a masterclass conversation with acclaimed director Peter Weir and prodigious composer Burkhard Dallwitz as well a field of 25 films competing for the title of Best Feature Film.
With side attractions including performances from Matt Corby and Arrested Development as well as a harbour yacht race, the festival is sure to become a mainstay of the Aussie film circuit.
Judging from the exciting program and formidable guest list, Cockatoo Island may well become Australia's very own Sundance.
Cockatoo Island Film Festival will run from 24 - 28 October.
