It has a fascinating and somewhat sordid history, and now LA's Sunset Strip has (another) film credit, with the Australian premiere of documentary Sunset Strip at the Revelation Perth International Film Festival.
The film made its world premiere in March 2012 at South by Southwest Film Festival, but Australian audiences will see it for the first time in July.
The documentary boasts a plethora of interviews with mega-stars of film and music, including Johnny Depp, Keanu Reeves, Ozzy Osbourne, Courtney Love, Mickey Rourke, and Slash, plus some interviews with non-famous (but probably more knowledgeable) historians, authors, and humble citizens.
The Strip, which started its life as dirt track in a lawless no-man's land, is explored from its seedy beginnings all the way to its scene today, where clubs and music venues reign supreme.
The film uses rare archival footage, original concerts, live performances, and the aforementioned interviews to piece together the almost 100 year history of this iconic stretch.
Revelation Perth International Film Festival runs from July 4 – 14. Ticket and venue information at www.revelationfilmfest.org.
