Star Wars In Real Life

Arts Editor and Senior Writer (many years until 2012)

The Force is strong with this one.

Finnish photographer and illustator Vesa Lehtimäki (aka Avanaut) has put together a stunning photo set that makes Star Wars model kits — mostly "some old MPC models built in the late 1970s and early 1980s" — look like full-size, working spaceships interacting with real-world environments.

If you've ever wondered what it would like if the Kesel Run took Han Solo through Finland, the results are below and they're downright gorgeous.

There's plenty more where these came from in Lehtimäki's 'Star Wars Scale Model Project' photo set on Flickr; he also takes great pics of Star Wars action figures, Legos and other toys.
