Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn star in 'Snatched', a holiday-turned-kidnapping adventure/action film with just enough laughs to make it an enjoyable experience.
When retail worker Emily Middleton (Schumer) is dumped by her boyfriend, she's left to find a replacement to join her on her non-refundable trip to a resort in Ecuador. Eventually, she convinces her single mother Linda (Hawn) to tag along with her. Wanda Sykes and Joan Cusack join the cast as Ruth and Barb, cautioning Emily and her mother about the dangers beyond the walls of the luxurious resort. All hell breaks loose when Emily meets a man (Tom Bateman) who sweeps her off her feet, into a concrete cell with her mum and into the hands of bad guy Morgado (Oscar Jaenada).
They then have to put their differences aside and figure out a way to escape to safety.

The film is good. It's a lighthearted hour and 40 minutes of mother-daughter chemistry (which Schumer and Hawn do pull off very well, I might add) and comedic chaos in a foreign land. 'Snatched' gets away with being heavily predictable in parts, because it's not breaking new ground or trying too hard. It's another funny movie about damsels in distress and that's all there is to it.
Wanda Sykes And Joan Cusack are welcome additions to the cast, providing some of their well-known wit and humour that appears to come naturally regardless of their role or lines. In this case, Cusack plays a mute ex-spy which means she relies primarily on physicality to be funny. She nails it.
Some of the jokes are dry and have been used to exhaustion, while others are clever and unexpected. All in all, it's an enjoyable, simple film with a great cast and a feel-good message about the unstable yet unbreakable relationship between a mother and her daughter.
