Sir Michael Parkinson will return down under later this year for his Farewell Australia tour.
An Evening with Sir Michael Parkinson is a celebration of the life and career of a man who has interviewed more than 2,000 of the most important cultural figures of the 20th and 21st centuries.
He famously sparred with Muhammad Ali, danced with Will Smith, kissed Lauren Bacall, flirted with Bette Davis, laughed with Billy Connolly, learnt from Sir David Attenborough and showcased and enjoyed the talents of Madonna, Peter Ustinov, Sir Paul McCartney and many, many more.
Affectionately known as 'Parky', Sir Michael has had a long personal and professional love affair with Australia. The tour coincides with the 40th anniversary of his first Australian TV series, the hit ABC show 'Parkinson In Australia'.
"I'm delighted to be returning to, after Yorkshire, my second favourite place on earth. My Father reckoned Australians were a long-lost tribe of sunburnt Yorkshiremen. I think I agree with him," Sir Michael says.
In conversation with his son Mike and showing highlights from the Parkinson archive, An Evening with Sir Michael Parkinson showcases an intimate, informative look at Sir Michael’s remarkable journey from a pit village in Yorkshire to the BBC with a talk show that for many defined their Saturday night.
“This show is a reminder that for over 40 years I had the best job in the world,” Sir Michael says.
