Food stalls, live music and interactive film events are what can be expected when Tropfest kicks off around the nation on Sunday 17 February 2013.
Sixteen lucky finalists will have their work screened to a massive audience at LIVE events across Australia.
Along with a $10,000 cash prize, thanks to Kennedy Miller Mitchell, the competition winner will also enjoy a trip to Los Angeles for a week of meetings with film executives organised by Motion Picture Association and the Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft. The lucky filmmaker will also take home a Nikon D800 camera plus $2,000 RRP worth of lenses and accessories as well as an all-new Toyota Corolla Levin ZR.
Finalists walk the star-studded red carpet in Sydney and have their work judged by industry heavyweights. Last year Alethea Jones won Tropfest’s 20th Birthday competition. Jones’s film “Lemonade Stand” was awarded first prize by a stellar judging panel of Oscar Winners – Geoffrey Rush, Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett and acclaimed actresses Toni Collette and Asher Keddie.
Venues include: Suncorp Piazza in Brisbane, the Wollongong Botanic Gardens, Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Perth’s Bohemia Outdoor Cinema, Commonwealth Park in Canberra, Circle on Cavill in Surfers Paradise and of course the main event at The Domain in Sydney.
Final entries close on Janurary 3 so budding film makers still have time to submit their entries for the opportunity of a lifetime!
