September, and just like Spring, the first hints of Rev 2025 are in the air. We’ve announced 2-13 July as our new dates, our call for entries is open and we’re looking at WASCA submissions. So, if you’re making films, or you’ve made films in WA, get in touch!
WA Screen Culture Awards
Embracing all screen forms from new, established and emerging screen practitioners and established in 2020 by the producers of the Revelation Perth International Film Festival, the WA Screen Culture Awards celebrate the achievement, innovation and ambition of our local industry. Submissions are now open via Film Freeway and we invite all WA practitioners to submit their works with categories from feature film to gaming to online content. The 2024 WASCAs will be held on Sunday 1 December at Luna Palace Cinemas Leederville, tickets are now on sale via the Luna website.

Written and directed by Luke Griffiths, 'Green: The Fight For Rock And Roll revisits an extraordinary era of music through the eyes of iconic Western Australian musician Wayne Green. The film centres on Green’s rebellious journey as the frontman of Wayne Green and the Phantoms, a raucous, irreverent, and sharp-witted band that burst onto the scene in 1979. Green offers a candid, unfiltered look back at his life in music, while the film pays tribute to a bygone era of Perth’s rock 'n' roll history. Memoir Of A Snail
After sold-out sessions at the Melbourne Film Festival, Madman Films and Luna Cinemas Leederville are thrilled to present Adam Elliot’s 'Memoir Of A Snail' in a special Virtual Zoom Q&A screening on Wednesday, 2 October at 6:30pm. The event will also feature breathtaking wall projections showcasing the talented creatives behind this masterpiece. From the Oscar-winning director of 'Harvie Krumpet' and 'Mary And Max', this exquisitely hand-crafted stop-motion film is a poignant coming-of-age story. Set in 1970s Australia, it follows a young woman’s journey through loss and self-discovery, blending family drama with Elliot's signature bittersweet charm. Book to Film: The Exorcist
Inspired by a 1949 case of alleged demonic possession, William Peter Blatty’s novel – and the iconic film he scripted – became one of the most influential horror movies ever made. While several directors were considered, Blatty championed William Friedkin, whose documentary-style realism brought the story to life. Initially met with scepticism, 'The Exorcist' became Warner Bros' highest-grossing film and received 10 Academy Award nominations, winning two.
