Reel Life: WA Film Industry News December 2023/January 2024

'Violett'
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

As the year rolls to its end, we’ll be watching films and developing 2024’s festival.

We want to thank everyone who has supported us – from the filmmakers who let us screen their work to the teams at Luna, SX, Backlot, WA Museum and State Library who helped us realise the festival, the sponsors, the funding bodies and everybody else.

And perhaps most importantly, thanks to the audiences who come back year after year to watch films and experience the festival. Thank you on behalf of Team Rev and seasons greetings to all!

Call For Entries You – yes you. Why haven’t you sent us your film yet? I know, it’s tough with Christmas and holidays and now the hot cross buns are out, it’ll be Easter soon enough, so don't make things difficult on yourself and send it through now while we’re still in a good mood. If you’re a film school or prolific filmmaker we can give you a bulk discount, but either way, we’re keen to look at your work. We accept all films of all types and all durations. We back risk and ambition – if that’s you, we want to hear your voice.

Academic Conference The Academic Conference is making a triumphant return in 2021! Hosted by SAE Perth, the call for papers is now open. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or new to conferences and networking, Revelation offers a supportive, friendly space to foster ideas and connections.

RevStream With more than 400 individual film titles available for hire – many internationally – RevStream represents about the best collection of international independent cinema you’ll find anywhere. Born and bred in WA, it’s a unique and pioneering point of access to some of the most highly acclaimed and rarely seen films including 100 plus WA films in our Made in WA category. It’s fair and ethical to the screen artists we work with and a great asset to the local film and creative community.

Made In WA . . . And while we’re on the subject, don't forget if you’re a local filmmaker we can include your work on RevStream in our Made in WA section. It's free and all we need is a digital poster, non-password protected access to a file and synopsis.
