‘Darby And Joan’, a new series billed as a rollicking road trip with a mystery twist, will film in various locations throughout rural and regional Queensland.
The series will star Emmy Award-nominated and Logie Award-winning Bryan Brown, and Emmy Award-winning Greta Scacchi, and feature majestic gorges, idyllic billabongs, sweeping grass plains and historic country towns.
“‘Darby And Joan’ will inject an estimated $6.6 million into the local economy and generate approximately 95 jobs for Queenslanders,” Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says.
“In addition to the direct economic and jobs benefits, ‘Darby And Joan’ will showcase regional and rural Queensland. We are a vast and varied state, with a huge geographic footprint and often unseen regional townships, and I’m proud that Queensland will star as a character in its own right in a series with such a strong global reach.”
Matt Campbell, CEO of Australian production company CJZ, says Queensland is the ultimate setting for a non-stop road adventure like ‘Darby And Joan’.
“We wanted scope, scale and variety, to capture a sense of awe and the stark beauty that comes from huge skies, vast horizons and roads less travelled; Queensland has all of this and more,” he says.
‘Darby And Joan’ starts filming in September.
