'Christmas On The Farm', a new Stan Original Christmas movie, will commence filming in various Brisbane locations this week.
The film will feature Australian-American actress Poppy Montgomery ('Unforgettable', 'Without A Trace'), as well as Hugh Sheridan ('Packed To The Rafters'), Darren McMullen ('House Husbands') and Nicholas Brown ('Wakefield').
Montgomery portrays Clementine Jones, an Australian author whose autobiographical book about life on a Queensland farm is snapped up by a powerhouse publisher.
Only issue – Clementine is in fact Emmy Jones, a New York woman who based the book on her deceased mother's journals.
When the publisher announces a surprise trip to Australia to experience a 'Clementine' Christmas, Emmy rushes to return to the family farm to maintain the ruse, roping in her cousin David (Sheridan) and his husband Miles (Brown) along the way.
"I am so excited to be back in Queensland, partnering with Hoodlum and Stan to bring our heartfelt and hilarious Christmas comedy to life," Ms Montgomery says.
The rest of the cast features Jennette Cronin ('Secret City'), Asmara Feik ('Upright') and Demi Harmon ('Winners & Losers').
"This 100 per cent Queensland-produced feature film is estimated to inject approximately $3.4 million into the state, create over 150 jobs for Queensland cast and crew, and provide a number of paid training placements for emerging filmmakers," Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says.
"My Government's recent $71 million screen industry budget boost as part of our Economic Recovery Plan, includes investment in productions by home-grown producers like Hoodlum and aims at supporting the continued growth of a strong, sustainable local sector over the long term."
'Christmas On The Farm' will be available this Christmas on Stan.
