Pop Up Short Film Festival Lands In Brisbane

A celebration of cinema and short films, the Future Shorts Film Festival take short films around the globe.


An event that mixes out urban aestheticism with innovative popular arts, the Future Shorts unites film, food, live music and artist exhibitions under one roof. With over 20 countries as an audience - concert halls, caves, libraries, village halls, university class rooms, cafes, warehouses and outdoor areas are turning into make-shift cinemas to briefly encounter moving pictures and soundscapes from around the world.

Soon to be landing in Brisbane as part of the Valley Fiesta celebration, the Future Shorts will feature award winning shorts from the BAFTAs, Leeds, Sundance, Cannes Barcelona, Berlin, Norwich, Glasgow, Hong Kong and Sydney. Representing a world moving towards instant gratification, innovation and modernism, short films are the fastest growing section of the movie business.

Setting the scene as the perfect networking environment for producers and students, Future Shorts will allow budding filmmakers to rub shoulders with local film and television professionals.

As part of the Future Shorts Film Festival, a sneak peak into the Australian Documentary 'FLOW' will be featured. Exploring the rise and career of beloved local DJ Angus “Bribe” Galloway, the teaser will be followed by a Q&A with independent filmmaker Simon Walshe on crowd funding campaigns with Pozible.

Future Shorts Film Festival will be held at The Flying Cock as apart of the Valley Fiesta, August 23.
