The Barden Bellas are back, bigger and better than ever in 'Pitch Perfect 2', the second instalment of the much-loved musical comedy 'Pitch Perfect'.
It’s out with the old and in with the new as Beca (Anna Kendrick) and Chloe (Brittany Snow), now in their senior year, take over the Bellas in the hopes of reaching the A Cappella World Championships. With the recruitment of a few new members, including freshman songwriter Emily, the girls feel ready to take on new competition.
The pressure is on, too. Winning the World Championships is the highest rank that a cappella can reach, but it has never happened for a US group.
After a shockingly humiliating performance in which Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) reveals a little too much of herself to the audience – including President Barack Obama – the Bellas face a whirlwind of criticism and only one more shot to prove their worth.
It doesn’t take long for the group to discover Das Sound Machine, the German a cappella prodigies that seem completely unbeatable. Beca gets a job as an intern at a record label, which means her focus is no longer solely on the Bellas… and this doesn’t sit well with Chloe.
The girls completely lose their cool, crumbling under the pressure of having to compete against Das Sound Machine and the sudden lack of focus within the group.
It wouldn’t be the sequel to 'Pitch Perfect' without an all-new riff-off – a vocal version of a dance-off – in which a cappella teams take turns firing songs at each other with only their voices. The Bellas come second to Das Sound Machine, who slaughter the girls and leave them feeling defeated.
Meanwhile, Beca’s talent starts to shine through to the staff at her intern job, and Fat Amy finds love with a familiar member of the all-male a cappella group, the Barden Treblemakers.
The loss to Das Sound Machine inspires the girls to go on a retreat to find their voice in time for the World Championships, and they are greeted at camp by newfound nature-lover and graduated ex-Bella, Aubrey Posen. She whips them into shape, and the Bella’s finally feel prepared to go against their German rivals.
Beca and Emily work together on an original song, which they perform at the World Championships, and who wins? Well, I can’t tell you that… You’ll have to go see for yourself!
'Pitch Perfect 2' is an all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza with just as much laughter, fun and music as its predecessor. A must-see for fans of the first movie and fans of music in general.
