Diabolical hip hop producer Pitbull — currently in the country for his Get It Started tour — has scored a role in Australian martial arts film Blood Money.
Shot in Sydney, Brisbane, Miami and Hong Kong, Blood Money stars international kung fu stars Zheng Lui and Gordon Liu (Kill Bill). The film — featuring 'real life fighting' and contact scenes, including 'actual footage and sound' captured when Zheng Lui breaks a steel bar on his head — is written and directed by Gregory McQualter and shot by Australian DP Dan Macarthur.
"The initial response from Hollywood has been phenomenal and we are looking forward to the Australian premiere," McQualter says. "Blood Money will no doubt be a hit with Pitbull fans and those who like real life fighting and action."
A surprising (well, not that surprising) amount of people enjoy both the music of Pitbull and 'real life fighting and action', as the film has reportedly been sold in 70 countries since screening at Cannes.
The story of a Colombian drug cartel that joins forces with a group of Hong Kong triads and the hottest hitman on the planet to ship two tonnes of cocaine into Australia and China, Blood Money will be released locally in December. For more info, visit facebook.com/ambrosiapictures.
