After a mysterious build-up worthy of JJ Abrams, the first trailer for director Guillermo del Toro's sci-fi blockbuster Pacific Rim has arrived.
Essentially, it's Neon Genesis Evangelion vs Godzilla as envisioned by the director of Pan's Labyrinth, and there's nothing about that sentence that isn't awesome. The cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Idris Elba, Burn Gorman and Clifton Collins Jr, but I think I speak for everyone when I say nobody is here for them — we just wanna see giant robots fight giant monsters.
Audiences will get a glimpse at an alternate reality where Michael Bay's Transformers movies were actually good from July 11.
