Better start buttering up the popcorn now because The Mini British Film Festival have announced their massive 2018 programme.
Kicking off the festival will be the Australian premiere of 'Colette' starring Keira Knightley. The actress portrays French novelist Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette whose debut piece becomes the toast of Paris despite being falsely credited to her husband.
Alongside 'Colette' on opening night will be a variety of films. Featuring actor, director, and writer Rupert Everett, alongside Colin Firth, Emily Watson, Tom Wilkinson; 'The Happy Prince' follows Oscar Wilde's final years of exile in Naples and Paris.
Making their Australian premier will be Caine's 'King Of Thieves' and 'My Generation'. 'King Of Thieves' focuses on the true story of a daring British heist and stars Jim Broadbent, Tom Courtenay, Michael Gambon and Ray Winstone. 'My Generation' invites the audience into the 1960s where pop culture icons, including The Beatles', were originating the scene.
Moviegoers can also look forward to '60s cinema with films such as Caine's 'Alfie' and 'The Italian Job' along with 'The Knack And How To Get It', 'Georgy Girl', and 'To Sir, With Love'.
Sam Claflin, Toby Jones and Paul Bettany will star in the new WW1 drama 'Journey's End'. Adapted from R.C. Sherrif's 1928 play, the story follows a group of British soldiers awaiting their fate while on the front-line of the war in it's final months.
Idris Elba makes his directorial debut with 'Yardie' – the story of 'D' and his explosive quest for retribution following his brother's death.
Bill Nighy, Sam Riley, Alice Lowe, Jenny Agutter, and Tim McInnerny star in the comedy-drama 'Sometimes, Always, Never'. Written by Frank Cottrell-Boyce, the film follows a scrabble-obsessed tailor looking for his lost son.
The festival will finish on a high with the flick 'Stan And Ollie'. Coming from it's world premier at the London Film Festival; 'Stan And Ollie' comes from screenwriter Jeff Pope. Tom Coogan and John C. Reilly star as one of Hollywood's greatest double acts: Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.
The festival will also feature films such as 'The Children Act', 'Peterloo', 'The Dam Busters', 'Spitfire', 'Red Joan', 'Interlude In Prague', and many more.
